Walnut Grove Key Club members and students spread the love on Valentine’s Day with hearts and candy on Feb 14th.
by Ansleigh Hester
Members of Key Club made hearts with cute, funny pickup lines the night before Valentine’s Day. They circulate the hearts all around the school, so when students walk in the next morning they are greeted with Valentine’s joy. Tenth grader Emori Maolud-Lewis expresses, “It makes me feel encouraged [reading the hearts]. They made me happy.”
Tenth grader Ava Bentley shares the process of making the hearts for Valentine’s Day. “I thought it was enjoyable. I liked hanging them up and seeing people’s faces while they read them,” she explains. “It spreads love around the school. It gives people a chance to give their friends a cute heart,” she elaborates on how the hearts add to Valentine’s Day.
Tenth grader Dillon Newton, a Warrior Warehouse employee, gives her take on how the candy grams promote Valentine’s Day. “It promoted Valentine’s Day and the store because it drew students to the Warrior Warehouse,” she mentions. It also lets students give a gift to a friend or a significant other for Valentine’s Day.
Ava Bentley spent most of her Valentine’s Day with her friends. Emori Maolud-Lewis says, “I went to dinner with my parents, and they gave me gifts.” Dillon Newton celebrated with her boyfriend [Jackson Peterson]. “I got him a card and candy,” she states.
Valentine’s Day is a different holiday for everyone at Walnut Grove. Many see it as a day to show love to friends and family. Others see it as a way to give gifts like candy and cards. But to all, it promotes love, joy, and happiness. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
