Chase Roux is a senior at Walnut Grove High School. This school year is his first at Walnut Grove, and he’s made a huge impact on the Walnut Grove Boys Varsity Basketball team, despite only being here for a couple months.

Chase transferred from Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, GA. He is definitely happy with the change, “The coaches [are] different and they treat me with more respect [here].” He averaged almost ten points a game with the Norcross Mustangs over 30 games on Varsity, going back to sophomore year (stats via MaxPreps).

Teammate Jonathan Issac is very high on Roux and sees him as one of his best friends on the team. “That’s my guy, he [is] cool off the court, and that’s one of my best friends on the team.”

Head Coach for the Boys Varsity, Coach Witherspoon, seems to appreciate Chase as well. “He’s been really good. He shoots the ball really well, [he’s] a confident scorer, [he has] senior leadership.”
Senior leadership is a must have on any basketball team, so that is another factor Chase contributes to the team. He thinks he brings “scoring, defense, and … energy to the team.”

Roux is also being spotted by some colleges. He even has a scholarship. “I hold one from Farleigh-Dickerson.” Farleigh-Dickerson is most known for their 2023 March Madness upset in the First Round (Round of 64) when they became the second team ever to beat a #1 seed. That team being the Purdue Boilermakers, with the 2023 James Naismith Player of the Year, Zach Edey, leading the way.

Even though Roux has only been here for half a season, he is making a huge impact on this Walnut Grove basketball team, bringing the energy the team needs, and putting points on the board and creating opportunities for his teammates to score. Good luck with the remainder of this season and in college, Chase!
