Senior Spotlights: Dylan Calvo and Carolina Reyes

Dylan Calvo and Carolina Reyes are both seniors on the Varsity Walnut Grove soccer team. They are currently the class of 2024. Dylan plays for the boys Varsity and Carolina plays for the girls Varsity team.

Dylan Calvo:
Dylan is player number 20 on the Boys Varsity team. Last year, he had a National Rank of 1144 and a State Rank of 227 (MaxPreps). He has been playing soccer for about 15 years; however, he does not wish to continue playing after high school. “It is a draining sport and sometimes not in my best interest.” When asked what his favorite game he has ever played was he stated, “My favorite high school game I played was against Cedar Shoals where we were tied 1-1 until the final minutes of the game and we scored. It was a region game so [the win] meant more.” He was also inspired to play soccer, “My dad put my older brother in soccer when he was young, and I guess I followed the idea. I have just been playing to play not much else, but Messi keeps me in love with the game.” 


Carolina Reyes:
Carolina is player number 22 on the Girls Varsity team. She has been playing soccer for around 11 to 12 years at this point. Even with this in mind she wishes to continue playing soccer after high school, “That’s one of my main goals to play in college.” Carolina grew up playing soccer for almost all her life and was inspired to play by her dad. She also spoke about her favorite game, “For high school I think it was my freshmen or sophomore year we played against Apalachee. It was a region game, and I scored a hat trick. And for club I think it was last year, and it was a state champions game, and I also scored a hat trick, so we won the finals.” 


This year will be Dylan and Carolina’s final year at Walnut Grove High School, and we wish them both the best of luck on their lives and careers after high school.
