WGHS Senior, Hayden Crescionie, was chosen for All State Chorus this past weekend for being one of the best chorus members in the state of Georgia, being the first WGHS student to do so.
The “All State” Process There is a lengthy process (in the competition) that each chorus student around Georgia had to complete, including Hayden. He reminisced about his experience, “They do an audition where you prepare a song and some fundamentals. Once I pass the first audition, they give me more music that you would hypothetically sing at the group [however, I sang it solo]. Since I passed the second audition, I made it into All State.” This is a big achievement not only for Hayden but for the whole Chorus department here at Walnut Grove. The Grappling Battles The memorization [of the music] was the hardest part for him. “I definitely had to practice a lot more for the first round because I really had to memorize a lot of things, especially my audition song. I had to memorize a whole 2 minute song and all of my scales. The second round was the same thing. I had to learn 7 pieces of music and test on all of them, so memorizing the music was just a lot of practice.” Noteworthy Impacts Many influential people have encouraged Hayden, but Mr. Reidling has been the biggest influence for him on his musical journey. “I probably would have not auditioned if it wasn’t for Mr. Reidling. It's only my second semester of chorus, so I thought I wasn’t good enough. He told me, ‘I believe you can get in the All State chorus’, and I believed him.” His friends were also an inspiration to him. “I would also thank my friends Alex and Jacob. They really encouraged me to join the chorus class. I wasn’t much of a singer before I joined, but they encouraged me to sign up for the class.” His Future Aspirations Hayden Crescionie has big plans for the future. He explained, “I think it’s really good [receiving the All State recognition]. It’s a good thing to put on my resume [for college].” He plans on going to college, and he wants to major in musical education. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
