On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, the Warriors Softball team went up against the Loganville Red Devils. For the Warriors, it was an away game in Loganville. With a score of 6-5, via MaxPreps, the Warriors would have their 2nd loss of this season. However, it was a very close game, with the teams being evenly matched in skill. The Warriors overall had an incoming game average of 7.5 runs against the Red Devils 5.8 runs, so it was anyone’s game to win.

After Wednesday’s game, overall the team currently ranks 167 in Georgia's rankings, but nationally the team ranks 373. And in GA’s Class 4A, they rank 15 (MaxPreps).

Wednesday’s game was not only rough on fans, but also the players, such as Alyssa Neidigh, a Senior on the Varsity softball team. When asked about her feelings on the Loganville game, she responded, “I felt pretty upset after the game ended”. Alyssa wanted very badly to beat our cross-town rival Loganville HS.

This also speaks true for Graycee Abbott's (another Senior on the Varsity softball team) feelings after the game ended, “I was sad that we lost, but I felt like we did everything we could to play a good game against them.” When asked about her thoughts before going into the game, she responded, “I was really confident and I had a good feeling about the game.”

Although the game didn’t end the way the Warriors wanted, the team put up a great fight. With many great highlights and plays from the team. Alyssa Neidigh reveals, “A highlight for me would be when me and Peyton Wilkerson (Senior #23) hit back to back line drives to right field.” Alyssa also believed the atmosphere of the game was “very intense”.

For Graycee Abbott she stated, “My highlight during the game would be when I got a base hit. And also I made some good plays at second base.” Graycee also thought the atmosphere of the game was, “There was a lot of pressure, but it was also really exciting at the time. There were also a lot of people there and they were really excited.”

The team’s current win to loss ratio, by date of publication for this article, is at 2-3, with wins over Chestatee and Cedar Shoals. However, Walnut Grove High School has great faith in the team to comeback and win the season.
