Spotlighting 3 songs from the playlist, teachers, Mr. Mozley, Mrs. Rob and Senior Kristopher Simon added tracks 1, 10, and 11. They explain how their throwback song choice makes them feel when they listen to it.
"Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison

Written by Northern Irish singer, Van Morrison, "Into the Mystic" features on his 1970 album Moondance. English teacher, Mr. Mozley explains that the song is nostalgic. “It makes me feel homesick. . ., somehow for a place I’ve never been.”  Mozley further says his love for music was instilled by his dad, and the admiration they have for Van Morrison makes "Into the Mystic" special to him.

"Ain't No Stopping Us Now" by McFadden & Whitehead

Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Rob suggested "Ain't No Stopping Us Now": a high-energy disco song from the 70s. Rob explains that this song makes her feel like an overcomer as well as a champion. She adds, “I think life is really just a series of unreasonable hurdles and challenges. . . The winners are really the people that recognize that [life] is really a grind.” Adopting a mindset through the “storms, fires, betrayals, and disappointments” is crucial to overcoming strife Robb believes.
"Pearls" by Sade

Sade released "Pearls" in 1992 with her album Love Deluxe. Senior Kristopher Simon says that he likes this song because it's very calming and soothing. “Romantic type songs are always nice because they set the mood that reinforces love for either someone else or yourself,” he explains. Sade has always been a big part of his childhood, and her songs give him a feeling of tranquility.
