UGA vs. Ball State Recap/Reaction

On Saturday September 9, 2023, the Georgia Bulldogs won against the Ball State Cardinals at home (Sanford Stadium). 

Georgia played against the Ball State Cardinals, who have a record of 0-2, scored their 3 points in the fourth quarter but still lost 45-3. 
  
Georgia won 45-3 in their second game. They played hard and were up 31-0 by halftime.  During the game there were some crazy plays from Mekhi Mews, Carson Beck, and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. The plays ranged from a 69-yard touchdown to a 47-yard kickoff return. 
 
Mekhi Mews had 3 catches for 75 yards, he also had the 69- punt return for a touchdown. During his punt return, he dogged past tacklers and weaved his way through the defenders. At the start of the game he had a 47-yard kickoff; but was shot down when player Peyton Woodring missed a chip-shot field goal from 28-yards. (ESPN)

“Mews is awesome, he is fast, he had more energy than anyone else that was out there on the field. He is going to be an awesome football player, and he is really going to help us out,” states Mrs. Britt.

Carson Beck threw a 37-yard competition to Arian Smith, which then set up the 7-yard touchdown pass. Beck finished 23-for-30 for 283 yards.
 
Dillon Bell couldn’t hold on the ball during a downfield pass, touching the ground ready to be grabbed. Bell then dropped a short pass in the end zone that then became Beck’s interception. On the bright side, Bell, a wide receiver, had a rushing touchdown as well as lining up in the running back position for multiple snaps. (The Athletic)

Senior Anna-Kate Franklin states on how embarrassing it was when Dillon Bell dropped the ball several times. “You think if they were at the college level they wouldn’t do that, but you know they still make mistakes; he wasn’t on his game.” 

Even though Georgia has won the past two games easily, they put their skill to the test on September 16, against South Carolina.
