On February 11th, in Las Vegas, America’s holiday took place, Superbowl Sunday. The date marks the 58th Superbowl and the tradition of the Halftime show. The Halftime show is extremely popular, with many people celebrating the shows as if they were the main event. Every year there is a different artist to entertain the audience during the break between the intense football game. This year, Usher was the main performer. Usher brought some other artists such as Lil’ John, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Will.i.am, Dupri, and H.E.R.
Many have taken to social media to express their disappointments with the show and others back up the show, loving Usher’s performance. Usher sang his top hits and performed like there was no tomorrow, though audience opinions are varying. In a group discussion with Royail Rhodes, Cameron Selman, Dylan Rogers, and Diego Que, they all had different opinions. “Usher did really well I thought, he really gave it(the halftime show) his all,” said Royail Rhodes. While Cameron Selman commented, “Honestly, it was garbage, worst halftime show I have ever seen.” Some didn’t even know who Usher was or were unfamiliar with the artist of songs they have heard. “I didn’t really know who Usher was until I watched the show, I didn’t know he made all those songs,” Diego Que answered. Whether you think he was good or not, Usher did perform to the best of his ability. “His performance was good, just I don’t like the songs,” Dylan Rogers defended. Others say that Usher didn’t make a whole lot of sense being at the Halftime show. These fans say that they should’ve had someone else perform at the show. “I would’ve liked to see Lil’ Darkie and maybe Kendrick Lamar. I think if Usher did the halftime show in 2014 it would’ve been better, now it just seems out of date,” said Jerediah Thompson. Without a doubt, Super Bowl LVIII’s halftime show will be one to be remembered.
Best Commercial
There were a total of 59 commercials featured in the Superbowl. Of those, fans have claimed that the State Farm commercial was by far the best, while one had everyone's eye. “The Temu ad caught me by surprise. Definitely the most memorable one,” said Bryon Rice. Ariana Parsons agreed, “The Temu ad was hilarious! It was played a thousand times!” While we may not all agree on who deserves to perform the halftime show or what commercial was the best, one thing can be said: we can’t wait to see what will be at the next Superbowl.
