The Walnut Grove High School Baseball team destroyed Cedar Shoals in a DH last Friday, holding their opponents to zero runs. This leaves the Warriors overall win-loss ratio at 13-11 and 6-9 in region.

Senior, Austin Cleghorn, says that the Warriors win was a result of their resilience and determination to take care of business. Cleghorn feels as if both wins can push the Warriors into more wins. “It feels good because going two games without giving up a run builds up momentum.”

Carter Hodges, Center Field, thinks that teams wins were because the team worked as if they were a well oiled machine. “Just keep doing what we’ve been doing... [Our] pitchers throw well, so we just have to hit the ball and score some runs. Work smoothly, you know.” And apparently this tactic worked out well for the warriors, as proven by the scores of both games. Even with all of the possible outcomes of the playoffs soon to come, Carter Hodges leaves no room for doubt in the team's abilities. “We’re definitely ready, as a team and individually.”

On Tuesday, our baseball Warriors will need to work hard in the playoffs to continue on into regionals, one loss and that will be the end of their season. Coach Allen has high hopes for his team, hoping he can lead them into potential victory. “I always feel confident if we go out there and play our brand of baseball that we can beat anybody in the state. Hopefully we can use that good momentum from last week and use it in the playoffs.”

Facing against all odds, but still brimming with burning passion and resilience, it's all in high hopes that Warrior baseball is able to take their impressive wins against Cedar Shoals, and turn it into the confidence they need to win in the playoffs, especially again the upcoming games against North Hall.
