With the Warriors Archery team working hard and succeeding to make it to the national level, here’s what Coach Wilson and Coach Mozley had to say about it.
Coach Wilson is excited and passionate about nationals and is excited to go back again. She stated, “There’s about 15,000 kids coming from all over the country just for bullseye and about 6,000 for 3D shooting.” Coach Mozley adds, “We’re very excited. Honestly it’s like the continuation of a legacy. We’ve had the opportunity to go several times already [even though] one year was canceled due to Covid-19. Nonetheless, we’re very excited and very proud of the [team].”
Obviously, achieving this feat was not an easy task of course. Mozley continued, "It took practicing and competing since late September. We have a very long season. It involved getting to school at 6am for practice around 2-3 times a week.” Both coaches agree that the long duration of the season is the biggest obstacle they have to deal with.
Wilson on the other hand tells us about the rules on getting to nationals saying, “It’s basically just a bracket. If your team has a high enough score you are eligible to advance to nationals.” Mrs. Wilson added that, “ The main [driving point] was their goal to be able to travel. Be able to see other students who are like them and give them the chance to see a lot of what other students do not get the chance to see.” Mr. Mozley stated that what really got them through was, “Just being supportive of the archers themselves.” The Archery team placed 3rd in the State for Bullseye, as well as 3rd in the State for 3D. They both agree this is a great opportunity, and can’t wait to see where it leads to.
For greatest improvement over the year, the coaches would like to highlight Aaron Lane and Makayla Spears.
Students who go above and beyond in their duties, like Morgan Growler, Ashlynn Stewart, and Bran Johnson, have also been scouted out. Regan Gao, Kyler Folds, and Kassidy Harris are the highest overall shooters, information granted by Coach Wilson. And for her friendliness and overall sportsmanship Coach Mozley congratulates Caroline Mixson. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
