WGHS Reacts to The Unfortunate Passing of Angus Cloud

On July 31st of 2023, actor Angus Cloud from TV show ‘Euphoria’ unfortunately passed away. WGHS students share their feelings on this recent event.

On July 31st of 2023, actor Angus Cloud from TV show ‘Euphoria’ unfortunately passed away. WGHS students share their feelings on this recent event.

Senior, Serenity Bynum states her favorite thing about his character on the show,  “He just always seemed so relaxed… There was so much drama going on in the show, so when he was in a scene, it was, like, calm.” 

She continues, “...If they do [make another season], they’re not gonna make any money.” Serenity also says “[The show will] probably [be] boring ‘cause he’s not gonna be in it … so I probably won’t even watch it if they come out with another season.” 

Angus’s dad had just passed due to cancer almost two months before on May 18th, which is causing people to question whether or not his dad’s death is what could be what led to Angus’s untimely death (BuzzFeed).

Serenity then ends by saying “I think it’s a lot for a parent to die; we obviously don’t know what he was going through…” 

Junior, Iyana Spencer starts off with how she felt when she got the news of his death, “I was sad, he was like, lowkey one of my favorite characters... I was just thinking like, [what are they gonna do] and how Zendaya and them were feeling, ‘cause they were all close, It’s really sad.” 

Iyana thinks there will be another season, unlike Serenity’s opinion. She also feels like the show will still be good. “I feel like, knowing how the show is, they’ll probably say [his character died].” 

She finishes her statement with, “He gave, like a sense of protection, even though the show was, like about the bad stuff, …you can be a bad person or do bad things, [but] still have a heart.” 

The ‘Euphoria’ team Instagram made a post with the following caption, “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of  Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
