WGHS teachers of the month: an award for amazing work

This week VIRIDIAN News has decided to ask the students to share their favorite teachers in the school. This is what they have to say.

The Process:
We had a semifinal nomination process with 20 randomly chosen students to determine which teachers would be in the running in each category. And the finalists were chosen by a different group of 25 students to determine which teachers will win the award.

Students were randomly picked to reflect the entire school's opinion, and taken individually which helps to divide the students' opinions. The categories were best academic teacher, overall favorite, coolest teacher, teacher people want, teacher duo, and the best hall. Each category has a different criteria to decide the teacher who wins. This is the first month we will be hosting this but we hope to continue it next year and add to the categories.

This month's winners for the Teacher of the Month award go to...

• Jennifer Baker for Teaching/Instruction
• Chad Mozley for Favorite Overall
• Bryce Shupe for Coolest Teacher
• Robert Walker for Teacher People Want
• Lauren Whitehurst and Eleanor Shelnutt for Teacher Duo
• D Hall for the best teachers on the hall

These teachers have displayed the highest level of teaching this month that the students observed and commented on. The winners will be given a certificate to show their dedication to our school. We hope to continue this competition next year with more rewards and categories.
