Last Wednesday, the junior and senior warrior classes had an action packed afternoon of different events to compete in. Let the games begin…

Last week, upperclassmen of Walnut Grove High School were given an afternoon of fun before finals in the coming week. Everyone was excited, and it could be felt in the air. As the teams flooded into the stadium, the advisors of the junior class of 2024 were getting hyped to be back on the field while the advisors of the senior class of 2023 were ready for a battle to the end; they knew there could only be one winner.
Hayden Flowers, a junior, had a blast during Warrior Day, and we asked her to describe the event. “Warrior day is for juniors and seniors to go out and have some fun and blow off steam… The day is a great way to enjoy your last year or two in high school,” she explained. Hayden was looking forward to spending time with her friends. She later added that her team was a little different because of how small it was. They joined Mrs. Rob’ s class because her best friend was on that team. She also shared how she was most excited to play a team based balloon pop where you had to pop the other teams balloons or yours would be popped.
Dr. Pieniaszek, a junior advisor, was interviewed later that week for her thoughts on how the day went. “I was excited because it had been 2 years since I'd been out on the field. Our Team P’s PowerPuffs showed up in full force ready to compete,” stated Dr. P.
Dr. P later added - “I like Warrior day because it gives students the opportunity to be involved with their school in a way other than academically because it gives students a chance to have fun in school without needing some kind of academic knowledge.” Coach Witherspoon, a senior advisor, teamed up with Mr. Gray to make Team GraySpoon. The team was after a good time more than anything according to Witherspoon. GraySpoon was the opposition to Coach Caraffa’s JuJu Team. For the grand finale, the two teams faced off in the ultimate test of their strength: the Tug of War. And, after a swift but vicious battle for control, Team JuJu won. While many of the students were glad to have a day of fun trials set up for them, many could be seen enjoying the afternoon with friends as the day drew to a close. The Walnut Grove Warriors went all out for Warrior Day, and it really showed not only through the hundreds of students who filled the stadium, but through the competitiveness of the teams and friend groups out on the field. Warrior Day is by far the most highly regarded of the school events by students and teachers alike. With finals arriving now, the Warriors are locked in as the last stretch of the long 2022-23 school year finally comes to a close. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
