On Friday, May 19th, the warrior football team scrimmaged against Morgan County. Hours before the game, several players had different opinions on the upcoming contest.
This would be their 2nd scrimmage game with the one before this game being played between themselves known as the “gren and black” game. Before the game, D’lante Overstreet shared, “I’m kind of nervous, man. It’s a new team, and we got new players coming in, and we don’t know what they’re made of yet. We’ve been preparing for this for about a month. We’ve been practicing a lot of hip drills, working on our foot work and more. I think we are ready for a new challenge, though. We just have to stay focused. My own goal is to try to get a couple of sacks.” His teammate, Cameron Selman, said, “I think honestly we’re ready, mainly we've been working on blocking assignments and knowing how to move. Personally, I've been working on where to move since I always run straight up. [Coach] has been telling me to move differently. I think we can win honestly if we stay focused, and once we have a bad play, we gotta just keep it moving, and play both sides of the ball.” Emadd Howard adds, “You know, we’ve had a couple off days at practice, but we got it together. Coach really just been saying to us to watch what you do and make your moves and decisions wisely and follow the plays given.” It was a hard fought contest, but unfortunately WGHS lost the game in the end. On the bright side, they now know what they need to work on. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
