World Series Recap: Everything’s Bigger In Texas

The Texas Rangers have won their first World series. The 2023 world series ended in a close shut out as they faced the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games and won four of those.

​Landon Moore, a senior on the WGHS baseball team, supported the game in a different way, “I supported both teams because it was real quality baseball. At first I went for the Diamondbacks, but they did not do what they were supposed to. So I just enjoyed baseball.” With the quality of the game being important to any final, there is always a favorite team from a person. “One of my coaches used to play on the Rangers, Curtis Terry,” Landon remembers.

The Texas Rangers have been a part of the MLB organization since the early 1960’s; having been a part of three different world series making this the third and winning one. The first one they faced was, vs the San Francisco Giants in 2010 losing 3-4. The second one being vs St. Louis Cardinals in 2011 losing 1-4; Which can all be found via ESPN. With two back-to-back years of not winning, we can assume that they will hit a “home run” during this celebration.

​Although the Rangers won the Fall Classic, the Diamondbacks journey was nothing short of excellence. Beating the 2nd best NL team, the Dodgers and the red-hot Phillies, they finally got stopped by the Texas Rangers. Zac Gallen, considered to be one the best players on the Diamondbacks had no hope against the Rangers only striking five batters out in five innings pitched, information found by Game 1. This shows how much the Texas Rangers wanted to win their first world series.

Texas Rangers deserve all the support heading back into the new 2024-2025 spring season. They play their first game against the Kansas City Royals,  as they aim for double world series.
